The first of its kind, the Walsh Exchange is an undergraduate international relations research conference being inaugurated this April 13-15 at Georgetown University.  Focusing on the three broad themes of international institutions, international politics and security, and area studies, the Walsh Exchange hopes to allow the top students in the field of IR the ability to gain greater exposure for their research as well as the experience of presenting in a formal conference setting.  We aspire to spark a new dialogue and show the world what the next generation of IR scholars is passionate about.

Why MUNsters Should Submit to WEx

on Fri, 01/27/2012 - 06:33

In honor of our debut at McMun this weekend, here are 5 reasons why MUN students should submit their work to the Walsh Exchange:

1. The Walsh Exchange is an opportunity to gain recognition for original research.
2.  It looks great on grad school applications and resumes.
3.  You can meet the boy or girl of your dreams...if that boy or girl is someone like Joseph Nye or Martha Finnemore.
4.  It's a fantastic opportunity to network with other IR students from around the country.
5.  You can finally prove your true IR superiority to the guy who takes home the gavel this weekend.

Conference

The Walsh Exchange, to be inaugurated this April 13-15 at Georgetown University, presents a first-of-its-kind opportunity for enterprising undergraduate international relations scholars to showcase their work, receive feedback, network with thought leaders in international affairs, and meet their peers from different universities. The conference centers on paper presentations but also includes numerous social and entertainment activities, including a keynote speech, reception, and awards ceremony.

Papers

If you've done exceptional research in some area of international affairs, you ought to submit your work to the Walsh Exchange! The inaugural conference this spring will focus on papers that fall into one of three categories: international institutions, international politics and security, and area studies. Examples of journals that publish papers similar to what we're looking for include World Politics, International Security, and International Studies Quarterly.
